The Royal British Legion Great Pilgimage 90

The Great Pilgrimage of 1928 was organised by The Royal British Legion. Eleven thousand people including 3,000 wives, mothers & sweethearts made a pilgrimage to and visited battlefields in France and Flanders as an act of remembrance. This can be viewed on the is short film on YouTube.

On the 8th August 2018 The Royal British Legion are to re-create The Great Pilgrimage of 1928. They have organised two Legion members from every branch to carry a standard and a wreath to the newly built Menin Gates at Ypres in Belgium. More information regarding this even can be found on The Royal British Legion website.

The event is not restrictive and any member of the public can attend the event. Ledger Holidays (amongst many) are offering a package for this event. From £429 per person, this includes:

  • Day 1 - Monday 6th August: Local coach departure from UK to Belgium/Northern France;
  • Day 2 - Tuesday 7th August: Visit to Mons-Nimy Bridge;
  • Day 3 - Wednesday 8th August: GP90 Commemoration;
  • Day 4 - Thursday 9th August: Visit to Loos, Bethune & Fromelles;
  • Day 5 - Friday 19th August: Return Home.
